weekly update #11
what i've been up to
Vibe of the week: entering the month of love, catching up on substack articles and planning outfits for spring and summer.
Hello everyone, happy Sunday!
I hope you had a great week and that you entered the month of February in the best possible way - the month of love (and aren’t they all?).
TToday I bring you an update on my week, from what I've been doing to what I've watching.
Doing
As always, I have been applying for internships and jobs (this week I applied for almost 10 different vacancies). I've been taking the opportunity to catch up on my reading and journaling - on the 1st of every month, as I told you, I create a new habit tracker and set goals and affirmations for the month.
Listening
My most listened to song in January was "messy" by Lola Young. But, after that, Taylor Swift and Gracie Abrams are right behind.
I would really like to start listening to more podcasts, but I don't know what to listen to. I wanted something in which I felt like it was a conversation between friends (and I'm already familiar with "Está de Moda"), so if you have any suggestions, leave them in the comments, please - I would appreciate it.
Reading
I finally finished “Magnolia Parks: The Long Way Home” and as I couldn't wait I immediately started "Daisy Haites: The Great Undoing" and have already finished it. Meanwhile, I've already ordered, and received, the last book in the Magnolia Parks series (published so far, at least) and started "Wedding Dashers", by Heather Mcbreen. Here I leave you my reviews of the last two books that I read and mentioned here.
Magnolia Parks: The Long Way Home
4.25⭐
Where to start?
I wasn't ready for this ending at all. I was planning on reading other books, but I'm going to have to start the next Daisy book right now because I can't stand not having answers
I always have mixed feelings about this series. There are times when I hate Magnolia and BJ, and other times when I love them. There are times when I want to hit them and stop reading because they annoy me, but I always end up continuing. Because Jessa's writing is incredible and it's hard to stop once you get into this universe.
Daisy Haites: The Great Undoing
I knew this book was going to destroy me. Daisy and Christian are my favorite couple in the series and this book, which has become my favorite, is proof why. Their growth as characters, their communication and their desire to solve problems without jumping to conclusions makes this an excellent book. Julian is a huge plus too. I really like reading from his perspective and it was great to watch him fall in love with Magnolia (who, in my opinion, doesn't deserve him). I have a hard time believing that I will probably have to wait more than a year to read the next book by my favorite couple. And end it this way? 💔 It's not fair! May Jessa write the next one quickly.
"Mum used to say to me - when you pick who you want to be with, you have to imagine every part of life, every scenario. Good, bad, happy, sad, painful, beautiful - not just the person you want to do road trips with, but the person you want to be stuck in gridlock traffic with. Not just the person you want to have babies with, but the person you want to grieve with, the person you want next to you on the worst day of your life, at the funeral of someone you love, who's next to you? Who do you go home to? You don't need a fairweather lover, you need the person that's going to stand next to you in their wellies, staring down the barrel of the storm.
It's Daisy.
I know it's Daisy."
Eating
For dinner on Friday I made pasta with pesto sauce, black olives and tuna. It may seem like a strange mix, but it's delicious! I advise you to try it.
Wanting
The only thing I would really like to buy now is an everyday bag. On a daily basis I use a Bimba Y Lola shoulder bag, but mine is already five years old and signs of use can already be seen. I asked for one for Christmas and since I didn't receive it, I'm going to ask one again for my birthday in March. I've had a penchant for bags since I was little and it's something I don't mind spending money on. I discovered this one from Longchamp a few days ago and I fell in love with it, it's perfect for the upcoming Spring. If it weren't for the price being too high, it could be a good option.
Watching
These are the vlogs I want to watch in the next few days, as well as see Reese Witherspoon's new movie "You're Cordially Invited".
Finally, I leave you with some of the images I saved this week on Instagram.
That’s all for today, I hope you liked it.
See you next week,
Carlota <3
